Welcome back to another development update from NORRIS-DESIGN! August has been a massive month for T-MAN: Lost in Transit. We have been hard at work getting the game ready for our upcoming alpha trial. A huge shoutout to the rest of the team, for relentless playtesting and helping track down bugs while I focused on the code and Unreal Engine blueprints.
🎨 Visual Overhaul & Studio Branding
New Sprite Art: We’ve rolled out a brand-new set of red-themed character and enemy sprites, leaning into crisp, retro designs.
Custom Intro Animation: The game now features a slick, custom intro sequence when you boot it up.
Official Branding: We’ve officially integrated the NORRIS-DESIGN studio branding. We've also submitted our trademark licensing requests to Epic Games to proudly display the Unreal Engine logo in our startup sequence!
⚙️ Gameplay & Mechanics
Randomized Enemy Spawns: We’ve adjusted the enemy spawn mechanics to feature randomized patterns, making each run feel fresh and keeping you on your toes.
🛠️ Bug Fixes & Blueprint Logic
Thanks to our rigorous playtesting sessions, we squashed some persistent bugs and smoothed out the rough edges in our Unreal Engine 5 blueprints:
Jetpack & Stomp Desync: Fixed a frustrating flight-related issue where jetpack momentum was desynchronizing or being interrupted during enemy stomps. Aerial combat is now much smoother.
Rope Blueprint Update: Overhauled the Rope Blueprint so the environment correctly respects player jetpack states while climbing or detaching.
Death-State Safety Switch: Implemented a crucial safety switch. This prevents a bug where T-Man could trigger a death state during level completion or when falling off the map in unintended ways.
Input & Loading Snags: Addressed several level loading issues and input glitches by ensuring the correct input modes are strictly set during scene transitions.
🚀 What's Next?
All of these updates are building up to our Alpha Trial release. We are currently prepping promotional gameplay playlists and trailer ad options, so keep an eye out for footage of these new features in action very soon. Thank you for following along with development. Stay tuned!
